What is "Get On It"?

"Get on it" is a transport initiative funded by Big Lottery Year of Young People funding & The Holywood Trust for young people in the Stewartry area of D&G to look at potential solutions to the transport crisis which local young people have said is the biggest aspect of living here that they wish they could change, adding to isolation & mental health issues, impacting employment, learning and socialising and preventing young people in the area from feeling like they can make a success of their lives in the area.

The initiative will bring together young people from the Glenkens, Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas to have a say on this issue, have training in advocacy and undertake a research trip to Aberdeenshire to visit young people taking action in this rural community.

Young people involved in the project will design and run a pilot transport scheme in 2019 and then report their findings to local council representatives and transport providers to impact decision making.
